This is the most basic but also the most important aspect when it comes to link baiting. Be UNIQUE! Don’t copy anyone else’s stuff. Just be yourself, there’s nothing more wrong not only in an online business, but in real life as well than trying to be someone you’re not.

Also don’t write what thousand other people have already written unless you have something extra to say about it. - Always try to add something different from others. For example lets take one of my posts called 10 Perfect Ways To Monetize Your Blog. There is tons of posts on Google about how to monetize a blog or website. So to make it a little different from the rest of them I added “Advantages & Disadvantages” under each of the 10 points. I know it’s not much and it might seem kind of lame but none of the posts I found on Google had that so I did it. And it’s more helpful for a newbie.
- Everybody has something that makes them different from others, find it and show it!
- Forget about Google! Google will rank a unique content better than a well on-page optimized one.
I’m sure you know that almost everybody reading your content, never reads all of it. And if they’ll see a long article with very long paragraphs, they won’t read it. I know I wouldn’t.
That’s why you need to write short paragraphs so it will be easy for the reader to scan through the article and pick the informations they want to read.
Another awesome way to make your short paragraphs work better is to use either bold or italic, but bold works better. But don’t make your content look spammy with all the bold text everywhere. Use it if it’s need it, if there is a reason for you to highlight something within the content than you can use it. You want to grab the readers attention not scare him away. Do it the smart way!

But I’m not trying to say go find some random images and insert them all over your content. That would be a mistake. You can’t just use any images you find on Google. Also it’s starting to get boring if you see the same image on every single blog you read. That’s why you should edit the photo before pasting it into your posts so you gonna make it unique. I know not everyone has the graphic design skills to do so but it’s not a rocket science. And unique images attract higher Pinterest traffic and if someone is kind enough and will copy an image from your site to their site they might link back to the source.

“How To” Posts
Everyone got some issues or question to solve and that’s where the “how to” jumps in. “How to” articles often get liked and retweeted much more than other kind of post because those are the kinds posts that help people solve issues.
But the thing with “how to” posts is that you need to attract attention since the beginning so you need a killer headline. For example:
Let’s say you write a blog post about getting traffic from a forum and you got a headline like this:

It’s not a really catchy headline right? I mean, it’s obvious that this article will talk about some basic stuff which everybody knows. So lets turn it into a killer headline:

I bet you’d wanna find out how this person got so much traffic from a forum in such short time and you’d click on it and you’d probably share it with your readers. I know the second headline doesn’t have the “how to” in it but it has the “how” and it’s still about the same topic.
Once you become more popular in the IM/Blogging world people will start to interview you. And what’s good about that is that you get more exposure, more traffic sources, more quality backlinks and your building up your brand.

But you need to be at least a little popular in order to get interview by someone. Who’s gonna interview someone nobody ever heard about?
Another best way to get interview by someone is to build a relationships with a person that interviews people on his or her blog from time to time. In the blogging industry lot of people interview each other with bloggers they have build a relationship with. Although it doesn’t give you a backlink as it’s an image form it can still give you some traffic to have your site listed there. And some people actually write the resources in the posts so those people can get a link back to their site. One of the sites that do that is KissMetric.
Data and stats from your site can not only be used for infographics, it could be used in a case study, it could be used in a regular blog article. It could be used for anything, and it could generate you some quality one way backlinks.
This is so powerful but so underestimated weapon to generate links, I don’t know why people don’t use it. Linking out to other bloggers is like asking them for links back to your site. If link out to someone else within your article they will see that on their blog(if they’re using WordPress). In most cases they will visit the site that is linking to them, share it and maybe check out if there’s something they could link to in their article.
It’s a win – win situation, you link to them, they link to you and everyone is happy.
But it doesn’t always work. So don’t worry if people won’t link back to you at the beginning. But if they never link back to you than you know there is definitely something wrong with your blog, weather it’s the content or something else, you have to find it and improve it.
